Hack of the day: HuffPo tweets

By Alan Boyle

The Huffington Post's Twitter feed was briefly hijacked today by a mischief-maker who fired off a string of homophobic, taunting tweets before editors re-established control. Those among HuffPo's more than 1.5 million Twitter followers who happened to be checking the feed at the time might have wondered what was going?on, but the offending tweets have since been deleted. You can still find screengrabs?on the New York Observer or the Mediaite blog.

"Sorry about that, Twitterverse," read one of the post-hack updates on HuffPo's feed. "We know we've been hacked and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

HuffPo?thus joins USA Today, Fox News and, yes, NBC News on the list of media organizations that have experienced Twitter account hacks ? which serves a good reminder to use strong passwords on your own online accounts. Perhaps more significantly, Ashton Kutcher's Twitter and?Foursquare accounts were also hacked today, and the hacker apparently left a trail for the actor to follow. "I'm coming for you, my friend," Kutcher says. Ruh-roh!
