Lewis Hamilton deserved more reliable car in 2012 ? Formula 1

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has faced many reliability issues in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far due to which he lost some crucial points in his championship battle and his hopes for winning the title faded.

Hamilton performed tremendously well in the opening few races and was one of the most consistent point scorers. Moreover, he had been deemed as the strongest title contender along with his major rivals, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.

Even though, he had the potential to claim the world championship title. However, he has been encountered with some technical and operational problems in few grands prix because of which he lost his chance of winning the title.

The British driver performed incredibly well in the qualifying of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held at Yas Marina Circuit during the last week and successfully secured the pole position. Later on, despite having a convincing start, he failed to score any points as he was retired because of fuel pressure failure.

Afterwards, he seemed a little bit upset over his retirement in the preceding race, but insisted that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the remaining two races of the ongoing season so as to be able to score good points for the team.

Though, he said that he has won many races in his career so far but his aim is to win more championship titles. Besides, he asserted that he would have been at the top of the standings, if he had not faced the reliability issues in his car.

?The [56 races] statistic is nice to have,? he said. ?But more World Championships would be better. I'm sure McLaren would say the same.?

?I've been on pole position six times this year and yet I have only won three races. In other ones we've had failures and issues with pit stops and so on. If my car was as reliable as Sebastian's or Fernando's this year I would be right up with them now,? he said.

Additionally, he said that he is eagerly waiting for the last two rounds of the ongoing season and is targeting to score competitive points in order to help his team in securing a good position in the constructors? championship.

?I feel if the car drives as well in the USA and Brazil as it did in Abu Dhabi then I will have another shot,? he added.

It will be important to mention that he is going to join Mercedes in the coming year as the replacement of the record championship holder, Michael Schumacher who has decided to take retirement at the conclusion of this season.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old said that he is very excited about the new challenge and is confidently looking forward to perform well in the next season. He also said that his aim is to take the Silver Arrows to new heights in the future.

Presently, he is standing at fifth place in the drivers? championship with 165 points. Moreover, he is ahead of his teammate, Jenson Button and is just 2 points behind his main rival, Mark Webber of Red Bull.

It will be thrilling to see how the Briton shows up in the final two rounds of the current season.
